Windancer replaces a Tripp 30 named Wind Tripp owned by the same skipper for four years. As of July 1, the crew has only had one and a half months of sailing time on Windancer. According to bowman Al Murin, "We're still seeing a big learning curve, and we're getting better with the boat all of the time. We're very happy with the boat."

The majority of the Windancer crew has sailed together since 1992.
